Chaos have been spreading their own infectious brand of toetapping
goodness since March '82. An exsquite blend of uncompromising punk
with fast moving action makes Chaos a ray of hope in this dark sad
world. Strictly apolitical and a bundle of good fun. Chaos have only
one message to tell the world, forgetyour inhibitions, politics and
prejudices, just let yourself go have a good time with your mates
watching Chaos brighten up your life.
Manic chord distortion, chunky bass vibrations, metallic drumbeat
all mix together with a savage vocal attack to producea string of
soothing melodies that are instantly identified with a chaos gig.
So join the hordes of sweaty contorting bodies dancing into a rabid frenzy.

The Satellites/Chaos. Action Oak Tree
HELL'S KITCHEN, West London. This was the pits, the absolute depths.
I've been to some dives in my time but this just about takes the proverbial biscuit.
I'm in a foul dungeon populated by a bunch of charmers whose idea of a good night out is to chant
Nation Front slogans at each other and thump any poor soul who wanders a bit too close.
The atmosphere to say the least is unpleasant. All credit then to both bands who played here
(and the foolhardly punters who came to see them).
Fledging speedsters Chaos were the first to brave the jeers. Young and (s)punky they managed
half a dozen numbers before throwing in the towel; the best of which were 'Soldier', mildly
interesting, and 'Just Having Fun', mildly predictable. They did manage some great guitar-lines though,
and the agonised vocalist was a joy. A piece of inspired plagiarism saw them off - 'Harry Roberts'
a reworking of the Hari Krishna call (geddit?) and I decide they're worthy of a return visit (give or take six months).
*the rest of this article is about the other band at this event, 'The Satellites'*
*Interview taken from 'Distortion fanzine' scan I got from Scott, Thanks!*
When did the band form?
Dino: CHAOS first formed in the middle of 1978 and did various one-off gigs until the beginning of 1981
Has the line-up always been the same?
Dino: I'm the only member of the band who was previously in CHAOS. I joined Chaos in March '79
and stayed in the band until we split up in the beginning of '81. After playing in the Urban Dissidents
for about a year, I left to reform Chaos.
Who are the band members now?
Dino - Bass
Frog - Vocals
Bill - Guitar
Jim - Drums
Do you take your music seriously?
D: we take our music seriously enough but we make sure we have a good laugh at gigs.
What sort of music does the band like?
D: I've listed below some of our current favourite bands.
I haven't bothered to include all the bands that have influenced us, as that
would end up being a great big list of all the early bands, or rocky bands
in Frog's case.
Jim - a lot of heavy metal, especially Iron Maiden, Motorhead, GBH, Discharge.
Bill - Conflict, Satellites, English Dogs.
Frog - Mob, Worms, Cramps, Circle Of Sin.
Dino - Mob, Satellites, Pests, Death In June.
You've got a big dedicated following, what do you think of that?
D: It shows us that a lot of people like having a good toe-tapping time at gigs
When are the band going to bring out a record or a tape?
D: We have a single coming out in Jan '84
What songs are going to be on it?
D: Tribal Warfare with Action Man and What's On Next on the B-side
What label are you trying to get on?
D: The records coming out on Conflict's Mortarhate label.
We've also got another track "Hey You" coming on a compilation album by Conflict.
Where have your best/worst gig been?
D: Difficult to say as none of us can agree on any particular gig.
What sort of following do you want to get?
D: Anyone who is willing to see us and enjoy themselves, without bringing politics
and violence to the gig.
Do the band believe in anything like CND?
D: We believe in a whole bunch of different things, but most important of all,
if you can go through life without treading on
other peoples toes, and get to the bar in time for a pint of cider, then you're definatly alright.
