A.Y.S., or Admit You're Shit were the UK's first original hardcore group, were one of the first to adopt a straight edge policy,
and were great friends with Minor Threat from the USA, RELEASE EXPECT NO MERY AND SOME PLACE SPECIAL for
Conflict's Mortarhate label in the early 80's, playing many supports with Conflict and elsewhere. Singer John had a close
friendship with Colin from Conflict who played bass for the group once live and on some tracks on this recording, as does
Conflicts original female vocalist Pauline. They came from Kent and East London, and caused controversy due to their refusal
to accept any political rulebook. The group had a good live following and sold many records on Mortarhate, but the groups
anti-everything stance finally worked against them by creating enemies, and so the group which Conflict rated as one of the
greatest sounding punk groups split up.
